Alemannic carnival celebrations
The Freiburg carnival or “Fasnet” traditionally starts 4 weeks before Carnival Saturday. The Swabian-Alemannic Carnival has a long tradition in Freiburg. A document dating back to 1283 already shows that it was being celebrated then.
